Suas sementes s\u00e3o caracterizas por apresentarem uma dorm\u00eancia tegumentar muito pronunciada, provocando atrasos e desuniformidades na germina\u00e7\u00e3o. Este trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar diferentes m\u00e9todos pr\u00e9-germinativos na supera\u00e7\u00e3o da dorm\u00eancia de sementes de\u00a0<em>P. aculeata<\/em>. O experimento foi conduzido em ambiente protegido no Centro de Sa\u00fade e Tecnologia Rural- CSTR\/UFCG em Patos-PB. As sementes de\u00a0<em>P. aculeata<\/em>, foram submetidas aos seguintes tratamento: sementes intactas como testemunhas (T<sub>1<\/sub>); escarifica\u00e7\u00e3o mec\u00e2nica com aux\u00edlio de lixa d`\u00e1gua n\u00ba 80 no lado oposto \u00e0 micr\u00f3pila (T<sub>2<\/sub>); desponte com tesoura de poda no lado oposto \u00e0 micr\u00f3pila (T<sub>3<\/sub>); escarifica\u00e7\u00e3o qu\u00edmica por meio da imers\u00e3o em \u00e1cido sulf\u00farico a 98% Pa durante 1, 3 e 5 minutos (T<sub>4<\/sub>, T<sub>5<\/sub>\u00a0e T<sub>6<\/sub>, respectivamente); escarifica\u00e7\u00e3o f\u00edsica por meio da imers\u00e3o em \u00e1gua quente a 60\u00b0C, durante 1 e 5 minutos (T<sub>7<\/sub>\u00a0e T<sub>8<\/sub>, respectivamente) e imers\u00e3o em vinagre comercial, durante 30 minutos (T<sub>9<\/sub>). Ap\u00f3s aplica\u00e7\u00e3o dos tratamentos, as sementes foram semeadas em bandejas pl\u00e1sticas contendo como substrato areia lavada. Empregou-se o delineamento experimental inteiramente casualizado com quatro repeti\u00e7\u00f5es e 25 sementes por tratamento. Foram avaliados a porcentagem de emerg\u00eancia, \u00edndice de velocidade de emerg\u00eancia, comprimento de pl\u00e2ntulas, e massa seca de pl\u00e2ntulas.
